e always like to be clear with our clients
about how we operate. This page gives you an idea of the usual
stages involved in making a new garden.
The Design
- We hold an initial meeting to discuss what you want from your garden
and for us to offer our quotation. (This meeting is free within a 40
mile radius.)
- We return to survey the garden; we measure up, take lots of photos,
take soil samples and spend time understanding the feel of the garden,
the house and the area.
- The planning period is usually 3-4 weeks, allowing us time to consider
all possible options and to get the details exactly right.
- We produce hand-drawn and coloured scale-designs and drawings, together
with written details of construction or landscaping materials and quantities
of specific varieties of plants. Typically we produce a layout plan,
a larger scale planting plan, and an artist's impression of the mature
finished garden.
- We present the finished designs and discuss them with you making adjustments
if necessary.

Making it happen
- Once we have agreed a finalised plan, work can begin. Ideally, we
oversee and carry out the work, thus ensuring that the design is interpreted
correctly. Of course, we are also happy to produce designs that you
yourselves carry through.
- If construction work is required, we discuss the plans with the builders
or landscapers and ensure that they fully understand the plans. Thereafter
we visit to supervise their progress regularly, checking that materials,
measurements, methods, etc, are all correct.
- We source all the plants
- We prepare the soil, improving it as necessary, and plant your garden.
- Once everything is complete, we can return to check how the garden
is maturing and to offer advice - perhaps 2 or 3 times a year.

Costs
Costs vary widely, depending on the size and state of the garden, the
complexity of the design etc, etc. For this reason we haven't tried to
give figures here. Contact for us information about the costs of the gardens
shown, and about costs in general. |
